8.8. G. INQUIRY OPENS MANY WITNESSES OFFER EVIDENCE (Rec. 11.45 a.m.) LONDON, Jan. 7. Much public interest is being shown in an inquiry now being conducted by Sir Valentne Holmes, K.C. It follows recent allegations made in the House otf Commons of cases of bribery of 8.8. C. officials in order that broadcasts might be secured. Some 80 witnesses have so far offered their names, and dance band leaders and variety, artists will be invited to take part in round table conferences with Sir Valentine. It is likely that his report will be in the hands of the 8.8. C. Board of Governors within the next four weeks. The first witness to be interviewed was Mrs “ Tawny ” Neilson, 38-year-old head, of the 8.8. C. dance music organisation.
