MINER’S FORTUNE
FOOTBALL POOL WIN WORLD RECORD PRIZE OF £45,000 (Rec. 12.45 p.m.) LONDON, Jan. 7. Mr J. Davis, a Doncaster miner, who is 34, won £45,072 in a football penny points pool. This is claimed to be a world’s record. Mr Davis is married and has two young daughters. He said he had no idea how he would use the money, but he would not return to the pit if he could help it.
