ARMED ROBBERY
JOCKEY'S HOME RAIDED THIEVES’ GOOD HAUL (Rec. noon.) SYDNEY, January 8. Two armed and masked men last night held up the jockey, Athol George Mulley, at his home at Marouba and stole diamond rings, jewellery, and money to a total value of £1,780. The men knocked at the door and presented pistols at Mulley’s mother-in-law, Mrs Dando, who answered. They then forced their way into the house and relieved the Mulleys and Dandos of valuables, ransacking two rooms. The thieves made their escape in a taxi after locking the occupants in the house. Mulley, who was well known as the rider of Bernborough, became front page news when he married June Dando last November with a lavish display of wealth. Ho was recently suspended during the’pleasure of the A.J.O. Committee for undisclosed reasons.
