CENTURY TO MOYNIHAN , (P.A.) CHRISTCHURCH, Jan. 6. Canterbury finished the first day of a two-day match against a West Coast touring team, which began at Hagley Oval to-day,, in an extremely strong position. West, Coast won the toss; and, was dismissed for 72. At stumps Canterbury had scored 275 for three. The home side’s position was due-.chiefly to a fine partnership of 224 between D. Movnihan and J. G. Leggat. Moynihan "opened the Canterbury innings and was undefeated at the close of play with his score at 163. He made bis runs in 217 minutes and hit 10 4’s.
