SNOW IN BRITAIN.
STOP PRESS
LONDON, January 6.—London and the South of England had the year’s first big snowfall and the biggest cut yet in electric power. Harley Street specialists were without heat and light for two and a-half hours. Central London traffic lights went out during the rush hour. The lights failed in police stations from where officers, working by candlelight, sent out men to organise traffic control. The snow froze on the roads as quickly as it fell. Farmers are digging for hundreds of sheep buried under the snow in the mountains of North Wales. Widespread falls occurred in many parts of Britain.
