OBSTETRIC BURSARY
(P.A.) WELLINGTON, Nov. 14. From nine applicants, Miss Joyce A. ’Alley, district nurse at Frasertown, Hawke’s Bay, has been awarded the first obstetric bursary offered by the National Florence Nightingale Memorial 1 Committee of New Zealand. She Will leave for England and Canada within the next few months, for' approximately .jix months, and during this time she will attend special courses in various aspects of midwifery work. On her return to New Zealand, Miss Alley will be appointed as an additional nurse instructor at the post-graduate school of nursing/ in Wellington, and will be responsible for .teaching obstetrics. Miss Alley’s home is at Upper Rie-cai-ton, Christchurch,, and she is a Graduate of the Christchurch Public [ospital. She is the. holder of a diploma of nursing, being a graduate of the 1941 class at the post-graduate school of nursing.
