Dunlop, late of Dunedin, has been; appointed a senior physician to the , Palmerston North Hospital. . The Australian High Commissioner in New Zealand, Mr A. R. Cutler, V.C., is coming to Dunedin on Saturday to attend the Rugby test match at Carisbrook between New/Zealand and Australia. Before the game starts he will be introduced-to the players on the field by the president of the Otago Rugby Union (Mr A. H. Cameron), who will be accompanied by the Mayor (Mr D. C. Cameron). Dr C. E. Hpreus, dean of the Medical Faculty of the University of Otago, arrived in Dunedin by air yesterday afternoon. He recently returned to New Zealand by the Akaroa after attending the Royal Society Commonwealth scientific conferences in England. The Assistant Director of Rehabilitation, Mr M. Sullivan, arrived in Dunedin from Wellington yesterday. He will attend a conference* this afternoon to discuss the settlement of exservicemen on the land. Mr Frank Chivers was selected as the National Party candidate to contest the Westland seat at a representative meeting of -delegates at Greymouth. Mr Chivers is a mechanical engineer in business on his own account at Greymouth. He was formerly on the staff of John Burns, Ltdu and was a candidate for the National Party for Westland at a previous election. , ■ vi, Mr W. H. Fortune has been selected as the-National Party’s l candidate to contest the Eden seat at' the general election.. His opponent will he Mr W. The high respect in which Mr Mitchell was held was mentioned by Mr A; Murray (on behalf of graziers attending, the sale) Mr J. O’Donnell (representing stock and station agency firms), and Mr E. Bartlett (president of the Dunedin Masters Butchers’ Association).
