RECENT ADVANCES MAINTAINED SCALE OF VALUES AT BURNSIDE There was a keen demand for beef at the weekly stock sale at Burnside to-day, approximately 290 fat cattle being penned, including some choice consignments from the Stirling, district. The sale opened 10s a head in advance of last week’s rates and remained firm throughout, the sale until the concluding race, when prices sharply improved, going from £1 to 30s above the opening rates.

The entry of vealers was small, and the sale in this section was also satisfactory, good condition runners bringing from £ll 2s to £ll 2s 6d. Baconers of all classes were eagerly sought after, and porkers again experienced strong competition. Best baconers sold up to £9 2s; prime, £7 16s to £8 12s; medium, £6 14s to £6 18s; and light,, from £5 17s.
