MAIN ELECTORAL ROLL

CLOSING THIS WEEK PRINTING COMMENCES MONDAY (P-A-) WELLINGTON, September 9. The printing of the main electoral roll will be commenced next Monday and the roll will be available in October. Main rolls for the election will be closed this week, and all applications for inclusion on them must be in the hands of a registrar by Friday. The old rolls for the old districts have been re-assembled as the rolls for the new districts, and transfers to new rolls are made automatically by the registrar so that electors have no responsibility ip that matter. If, however, electors'have changed their address and have qualified for enrolment in some other district, they still have to notify and apply* for registration in the new district.

Servicemen who have no Ad on the civilian rolls should do •' « if qualified. The fact that they were included in the forces roll does not mean that they will be automatically transferred by the department to the civilian roll. There is no guarantee that a name will be returned to the civilian roll because the cleansing of the roll undertaken during last election and before this election may have resulted in names 'being removed. J.-Force men will be provided for overseas, where a roll 'has been prepared from information supplied bv the men themselves and checkeii against service records, and they will be allotted to the electorates for which they registered as civilians, or, if not registered, to the electorates in which they last resided before entering the forces. Similar provision is being made for Air Force personnel in the Pacific* and Japan. Supplementary rolls are automatically open immediately the main lists are closed. The closing date for supplementary rolls depends oh the dissolution of Parliame.
