FATAL ACCIDENT AT HENLEY.
Hector Bertram Patrick, aged 27 years, was killed to-day, and Frederick William Newman, aged 4G years, was injured, when ,u car driven by Russell Vincent Gibson, a soldier on leave, of Cumberland street, Dunedin, swerved off the Main South road in the vicinity of Henley into a group of workmen engaged in clearing a channel. The deceased and the injured man, both of whom reside at Allanton, were employed by the Public Works Department. Gibson was driving the car along the Main South road when for some unknown cause it swerved and ran into the group of four workmen. Newman's injuries are not serious.
