EXECUTION FOR RAPE AND MURDER VETERAN OF GUADALCANAL (ißec. 12.40 p.m.) WASHINGTON, July 19. Earl McFarland, a marine veteran of the Guadalcanal campaign, was electrocuted for rape and slaying a Government clerk. McFarland agreed to give his eyes to a blind person, and was scheduled for operation at New York to-day, but MeFarland's relatives objected, and the plan was abandoned. McFarland. who was 25 years old, Jit a cigarette and coolly helped the guards to adjust the straps of the electric chair. He protested his innocence to the last.
