SELF-SACRIFICE FOR CAUSE
JVTTITUDE OF JEWS IN ITALY PROTEST AGAINST CLOSING OF PALESTINE (Rec. 8 a.m.) LONDON, April 25. Jewish circles in Italy fear that if the Anglo-American Commission's report regarding Palestine goes against them there will be an outbreak of mass suicides among the thousands of Jewish displaced persons in camps throughout Germany, Austria, and Italy, says Router's Rome correspondent. The attitude of these Jews is that they have nothing to lose by suicide, and if by this act they can force the British and American Governments to help the Jewish cause they . are prepared to sacrifice their lives in order that others may benefit. Dr C. V. Nahon, head of the Jewish Agency in Italy, said lie hoped that at least 100,000 displaced persons will be granted certificates to go to Palestine. There are at present 12,000 waiting in Italy, many of whom have been there for a year.
