FIRST IN DISQUALIFIED
TRAINER AND JOCKEY SUSPENDED IMPROPER PRACTICES ALLEGED MELBOURNE, April 25. The Mentone trainer, J. Accola, the New Zealand jockey, L. Hare, and the horse First In were disqualified by the Victorian Racing Club stewards for 12 months from to-day. Accola and Hare were found guilty of improper practices at Mentone last Saturday, when First In finished sixth in the Ascot Easter Cup. Owned in New Zealand by Air S. Taylor. First In has had several runs in Alelbourne since arriving last spring. Appeals have been lodged. [As Air Taylor was not involved, the disqualification is not likely to affect his horses in New Zealand. It was the intention of Mr Taylor's trainer, D. P. Wilson, to take a team to Melbourne, including Prize Ring, Grill, Patinos and Frances, who were to join First In, but these plans may now be delayed.]
