OTAGO UNIVERSITY
MEETING OF COUNCIL The monthly meeting of the Otago University Council was held' yesterday and was attended by the Chancellor, the Very Rev. D. C. Herron, Miss M. W May, the Hon. W. Downie Stewart, Drs C. E. Hercus, F. G. ■Soper, and Messrs W. R. Brugh, H. P. Kidson, C. V. Smith, G. R. Ritchie, A. Steel, I. G. Garden. E. Partridge, J. C H Somerville. The Country Women's Co-ordinating Committee reported that it had appointed Mrs Rosanne Rutherford as drama tutor. Tt was decided to refer the matter to the chief W.E.A. tutor. GEOGRAPHY COURSE. A request was received from Mr A. J. Sligo, on behalf of a committee of post-primary teachers, that a refresher course in geography be held in January, 1947. It was decided to refer the request to the Professorial Board with a recommendation for favourable consideration DIPLOMAS AWARDED. On the recommendation of the Professorial Board, Home Science diplomas were awarded to Misses N. A Bahbage, S. P. Birch. S. M. Box, B. Bridge, E. Burrows. D. J. Coster, E. R. D. Eilers, G. E. Gane. E. Greer. P. M. HoHg, M. T Irwin. S. M. Irwin. S. M. Johnston, B. Palmer. P. L. Rantin; M P Shawl. P. D. Shernff. G. M. Sinter, and R. H. A. Wilson, and Mrs E I. "TTnrvie. Diplomas of Associate of the Otago School of Mines, were awarded to Messrs P H G. Hamilton. W. G. Lee. P. B. Wilder (in mining), and D. L. Jenkins (in geology).
