RELIEF FORCE FOR JAPAN
EARLY DESPATCH CP.A.) AUCKLAND, April 16. ! "' Although no definite date has yet been allotted for the departure of the men who comprise the J-Force from New Zealand, arrangements are in train which will enable us to carry out the relief of the men at present in Japan as scheduled," said Majorgeneral N. W. McD. Weir, Chief of the General Staff, to-day. The men of J-Force were being sent on final leave this week, he continued, and when they returned to camp they would be prepared to embark for Japan just as soon as a ship was allotted. The New Zealand group already in Japan was due to be relieved about the end of June, according to the promise made by the Prime Minister, said General Weir. " We therefore have plenty of time to effect their relief, and we have no doubt that the change-over will be carried out in plenty of time to keep faith. The actual date on which the J-Force will sail, however, is still dependent upon shipping arrangements which had not been completed when I left Wellington a couple of days ago."
