SURVEY FLIGHT
TRANS-PACIFIC ROUTE (P.A.) AUCKLAND, April IG. Completing the southward run of a survey flight over the trans-Pacific air route from San Francisco to Aucklaud, a Skymaster aircraft of Pan-American Airways landed at Whenuapai from Nandi, Fiji, late this afternoon. The Skymaster arrived to schedule, but did not land immediately, about half an hour being devoted to test approaches, using the radio range equipment installed at Whenuapai. Commanding the aircraft is Captain Brue Michael, who has with him a crew of 12. The Skymaster also brought passengers, all of whom will leave with the aircraft on Thursday morning, when the return flight is scheduled to commence. Among the passengers were Messrs C. Worthimui. ]). Conklin, W. May, and W.M. Spencer, all members of PanAmerican Airways staff, and Messrs P. S. Keeler and D. Given, inspectors of' the Civil Aeronautics Authority, who were making an unofficial trip.
