EXECUTION OF U.S. AIRMEN
JAPANESE OFFICERS SENTENCED (Rec. 1 p.m.) SHANGHAI, April 15. •A military commission sentenced four Japanese officers to imprisonment with hard labour for the execution of three of General Doolittle's airmen in 1942. The principal defendants were Lieutenant-general Shugeru Sawada, former commander of the Japanese Thirteenth Army, and Captain Natsuta, commander of the Kiangwan Military Prison, who were each sentenced to five years' imprisonment. The commission said the defendants merely obeyed orders from higher officials in the military and Government.
