Reminder to Owners. Nominations for the Wairio Jockey Club's meeting close to-morrow at 5 p.m.' Irish Note Scratched. Irish Note was scratched for all engagements at the C.J.C. Easter Meeting at 8.10 p.m. yesterday. He jarred a joint about a fortnight ago and has been receiving veterinary attention. Driver Suspended. P.. P. Gallagher, driver of Positive in. the Wilkin Handicap at Addington, had his driver's license suspended till the end of May for interference. Double Winner. Renown's Pride put up a creditable performance to win two consecutive races at the Taranaki meeting on Saturday for the South Island trainer, A. Holmes. Wantwood. Although Wantwood was not produced at the Kurow meeting there is nothing wrong with the three-year-old, and he will go to Riccarton to contest the Great Easter Handicap. Caulfield Cup. This year's Caulfield Cup will have a stake of £6,750 and a gold trophy valued at £l5O. This will be the first trophy presented since 1941. Last year the " trophy " consisted of £l5O in war bonds. Seven On End. Emulous made his record seven wins on end when he annexed the Flying Handicap at Addington on Saturday. After going away in a tangle, he had to put up an outstanding performance to win. Favourite Disappoints. The favourite for the High-weight Handicap at Kurow, Sir Bernard, was having his first race since October when he started on Saturday. He was one of the last to leave the barrier, and was not prominent in the running at any part of the race. Promising Filly. By running second in the Trial Stakes at Kurow, Antibes attracted attention as one likely to make a name for herself next season. She is a two-year-old filly by Croupier out of the Australian-bred mare, Latin Lady, who was by Windbag out of^Pecunia. Signal Officer. Signal Officer has been allowed to drop out of the Riverton Cup, and; his Easter mission will be the principal handicaps on the Canterbury Jockey Club's programme. R. J. Mackie, who was associated with this horse's success at Gore earlier in the month, will be his rider at Easter. Gained Friends. •Master Dash will probably gain many friends for the Great Easter Handicap after his five lengths' win over six furlongs at Hawke's Bay. He earned 10.2 when he won on Saturday, and, as this win does' not incur a penalty for the Riccarton event, he will carry his original weight of 9.12. Riverton Prospect. In the Gillies Hack Handicap at Kurow, Runaway and Money Bird were handy to the leader all the way, and it was only over the final furlong that they were beaten out of the money. Runaway holds an engagement at Riverton next Saturday against a very weak field, and will prove very hard to beat. Venturesome. Venturesome showed a lot of speed in the Trial Stakes at the Kurow meeting to be in front until the straight was reached. He weakened over the final stages of the journey, and finished fifth. He will be seen to better advantage if he strikes a firm track over the Easter holidays. Excellent Acceptances. The Riverton Racing Club has received an excellent list of acceptances for the first day of its Easter meeting, which will be the star attraction in the south for the racing public. The two steeplechase events have drawn surprisingly big fields, and the Great Western should provide one of the best races ever staged by the club. Mulish at the Barrier. Te-Muba invariably makes his task harder in a race by being mulish at the barrier. In the Gillies Hack Handicap on Saturday he was inclined to be a little stubborn, and when the field went away he was one of the last to move. Te-Muka made up a lot of ground over the last three furlongs, and was decidedly unlucky to miss a place. Top-weights and Favourites. Since 1918 the only horses carrying No. 1 saddle cloth to win the Great

(8.13, in 1920), Grand Knight (9.3, in 1926), Reremoana (9.9, in 1928), and Cimabue (8.9, in 1929). During the same period the favourites to carry out their part of the contract have been Grand Knight (1926), Shirley (1927), Rebel Song (1933), Cocksure (1939, place favourite), and Density (1940).
