PUPPET PREMIER
SENTENCED TO DEATH SHANGHAI, April 13. Chen Kungpo, former head of the Nanking Puppet Government, was convicted of treason and sentenced to death. The judge said the evidence clearly proved that Chen and his predecessor, Wang Ching-wei, together organised the Government against China T s best interests. Chen's sentence will be reviewed by Nanking's highest court. _ ■ Wang • died somewhat mysteriously in Japan. His widow is due for trial on Monday, followed by Dr Chu Minya, formerly Puppet Foreign Minister.
