AIDING EX-ENEMIES
FUNDS FROM UNITED STATES WASHINGTON, April 13. The United States is planning to spend almost 60,000,000 dollars a month to help feed Germany and Japan until the middle of 1947. According to an army official, 700,000,000 dollars have been earmarked for this purpose in the War Department's estimates for the year beginning on July 1Food is already being shipped into the American-occupied zone in Germany at a rate of more than 50,000 tons a month. About 25,000 tons of rice substitutes have so far been delivered to Japan. The War Department is spending the money to prevent disease and unrest.
