ARRESTS IN SLOVAKIA
CHARGES OF ESPIONAGE* AGITATION AGAINST RUSSIAN ALLIANCE (Rec. 8 a.m.) PRAGUE, March 24. The Minister of the Interior officially announced that 100 persons have been arrested in Slovakia on charges of espionage and agitation against a Czecho-Slovak alliance with Russia and preparation for an armed rising in Slovakia. He added that the intended uprising was instigated and controlled from abroad.
Those alleged to be mainly responsible were ex-members and adherents of the pro-Nazi puppet administration of Slovakia, some of whom were still in the country, and others abroad. . In Austria and Germany, and particularly in Rome, they are in contact with " international reaction," including General Anders's army. Among those arrested was Professor Polakovic, a Jesuit priest of Croat origin, who is alleged to be the leader of the plotters.
