WHIPPET RACING
SMARTIE'S GOOD WIN Smartie, who showed a return to form at the Fernhill Club's meeting a fortnight previously, won the principal opening event at the Dunedin Whippet Racing Club's meeting at Tahuna on Saturday afternoon, scoring in decisive fashion from some of the best local dogs. The other open flat race was won by another outstanding performer, Victory March. Smartie on this occasion being third. At almost every meeting for months past Noble Runt has scored at least once, and on Saturday he was again too
good for the second-class flat company, and later accounted for the open hurdlers, though Crack Guy, who finished a good second after conceding the winner SJyds, put up an outstanding performance.
