CHRISTGHURGH WING COMMANDER (N.Z.P.A, Special Correspondent.) LONDON, Feb. 26. Wing-commander Minden Blake, of Christchurch, who was awarded ithe D.S.O. in August, 1942, received his decoration from the King to-day at Buckingham Palace. Wing-commander Blake, who also holds the D.F.C.. was one of New Zealand's leading fighting pilots, and! had destroyed 10 enemy aircraft before he was shot down into the English Channel and taken prisoner in November. 1942, Partially blinded, he paddled his dinghy all-night, but was picked up bv a German patrol while singing 'Here I. come.' The Germans sent him into hospital in Paris, then to a prisoner-of-war camp.
