NEW EMPIRE RECORD (Rec. 8 a.m.) JOHANNESBURG, February 12. A " sitter-up," Johnny Sam, claims an Empire record for sitting up 5,060 consecutive times. The exercise consisted of lying flat on his back, raising his trunk and bending forward until his fingers touched his toes. Mr Sam hoped to do this 8,000 times, but abrasions from the mat forced him to give up after 4£ hours, in which he lost 51b.
