FLOOD AFTERMATH
THOUSANDS OF SHEEP PERISH SYDNEY, January- 23. The subsiding flood from the Gwydia River has left a coat of bladk slimy mud in more than 200 homes which were inundated on Wednesday. Only one road to Moree is usable, and the police say that thousands of sheep must have perished, judging by ihe number of carcasses drifting in the flood water. It will take a week to restore the railway services. Two divisions of the Townsville "'■•> :l train won a race with the flood waters of the Thompson River, but are held up at Longreach, where 700 passengers are being fed from food wagons attached to the trains.
