JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIPS OTAGO IN SINGLES FINAL (P.A.) CHRISTCHURCH, Jan. 25. John Barry (Auckland), as was expected, reached the final of the New Zealand junior singles championship to-day. His opponent in the final will be V. J. Donnelly, a youth from Matakanui, who has been the " dar.k horse " of the tournament, beating in round after round players who were expected to beat him, and who, moreover, looked better tennis players. - Two Auckland girls will contest the other singles final, Miss Heather Redwood and Miss Valerie Johnson. The latter caused one of the major upsets of the tournament to-day .by beating the title-holder, Miss Jean Mac Gibbon (Canterbury). The weather was perfect, and playing conditions, apart from a brisk easterly cross-wind, were ideal. Results:— BOYS' SINGLES. ■ —Semi-finals.— J. A. Barry (Auckland) beat A. Ellis and G. 11. Shaw' (Otago), 6-0, 6-1. —Semi-finals.— J. A. Barry and G. L. Johns (Auckland) beat Mcßrearty and Nicholls (Hutt), 6-3, 6-4. , Perry and Weatherall beat R. H. Arbuckle and S. L.
