HAWKE CUP MATCHES MANAWATU RETAINS TROPHY (P.A.) PALMERSTON N., Jan. 24. At the conclusion of three days' play in the Hawke Cup match to-day, Manawatu retained the trophy by defeating Hawke's Bay by a mangm of 239 runs. The weather was fine, and the wicket was dry and fast. On the resumption of play to-day Manawatu made 196, Pollit (58) being the top scorer. Bowling for Hawke's Bay, Diack took four wickets for 41. Hawke's Bay were all out for 85. Phillips (29) being the chief contributor. Miller took four widkets for 19 runs.
