RUGBY LEAGUE TRANSFERS
NEW ZEALAND PROTEST LONDON, January 23. The agreement between the English Rugby i League and New Zealand on the transfer of players lapsed in-1941. It is announced that this will be the English League's reply to the New Zealand protest against the signing of an agreement by Wigan with the New Zealand player Nordgren, and against the approach by Dewsbury to the New Zealander, Campbell. Protests were received at a meeting of tho Rugby League Council to-day. The council has appointed Mr W. Poppelwell, of Bramley, and Mr W. M. Gabbatt, of Barrow, as managers of the team to tour Australia and New Zealand. Both will be allowed £4OO for expenses.
