LOAN TO BRITAIN
SUPPORTED BY AMERICAN LABOUR NEW YORK, January 22, The A.F.L. Executive Council has sent a message all Congressmen urging approval" of the proposed 4,400,000,000-dollar credit to Britain "as a business proposition, not on a sentimental basis." The message added that the American people had not yet grasped or accepted the broad responsibilities which they must undertake to furthev the cause of world peace. "It is not enough to .maintain occupation forces in conquered nations and to join the i United Nations Organisation. World peace may be negotiated on a diplomatic level and protected by military measures, but it depends basically on a sound and prosperous world economy providing an_ opportunity for each nation to establish a decent standard of living for its people."
