NO CHANGE IN POSITION
'(Rec. 12.5 p:m.) SYDNEY, January 24. The position in regard to the Katoomba and the three neighbouring ships which the waterside workers yesterday refused to work is still thesame. The Maritime Industry Commission, which was party to the original agreement that 21 firemen only were needed for the New Zealand trip of the Katoomba, discussed the matter, but could not find a basis of settlement. The dispute has now lasted six days, and appears more likely to spread than ease iteelf. It has cost the Federal Government an estimated £3,000 in ship maintenance alone.
