CAVERSHAM RATEPAYERS
* The monthly executive peering of the Caversham Ratepayers'air] Householders' Association was presided over by Mr J. 0. Wallace. As the result of efforts by the association, various improvements have been carried out in the district. A waiting shed has been erected at the Caversham tram terminus and the two ramps Jn Valley road have been levelled, but the .surface is still slippery, and requires further attention. The footpath over the railway bridge, which has been left in a very rough state ever since the large-drainage pipes were laid several years ago, has. been tar sealed. A light lias been installed on the steps leading from Main South road to Waimea Avenue. Bus stops are required at various points in the district, and the transport department has been requested to have these erected. The Main South road from the Glen to the terminus is in a very bad state of disrepair, and the council has been requested to improve the surface, and also to instal additional lighting in Riselaw road and Waimea Avenue.
The City Council reported that footways and channelling in the Corstorphine district have received attention. Although an improvement has been effected, a great deal more work is required to place them in a satisfactory condition. Booklets, containing transport time, tables and other useful information are being printed, and will be available to residents shortly.
