DE GAULLE HOLDS BEST CARDS

LONDON, January 21. After a day of furious activity, General de Gaulle last night appeared to be holding all. the best cards in the French political crisis, says the ' Daily Mail's ' Paris correspondent. It seemed that his departure might not be inevitable after all. He kept his word and left Paris, but has gone only as far as the Forest of Marly, taking little luggage. De Gaulle's headquarters said that the general would be available " in the event of a disturbance." iThe correspondent considered that if the three parties could find no way out of the problem of forming a coalition, they might find it necessary to turn once more to de Gaulle, ■who would then presumably make his own terms for resuming office.
