CORSO APPOINTMENTS

NO “ CONCHIES M WANTED R.S.A. STAND (P.A.) AUCKLAND, January, 7. Fearing that' conscientious objectors or others “ who did not raise a finger to help the war effort” may receive appointments to the Council for the Organisation of Relief Services Overseas, the Auckland .branch of the RjS.A. is keeping a watchful eye on that body’s affairs.

The association alleges that the heads of certain religious organisations who displayed great sympathy toward conscientious objectors are: also interested in Corso, and for that reason fears that some unacceptable appointments may be made. The association contends that these persons would be a serious menace overseas because they hold beliefs which do not represent the views of the Dominion. “ There is a large number of returned men who are fully qualified to work efficiently for Corso,” said the R.S.A. president, Mr A. P. Postlewaite, to-day. He added that the association intended to ask the Mayor of Auckland to call a public meeting for the purpose of electing a Corso committee.
