HEALTH IMPAIRED (Rec. 11.50 a.m.) LONDON. Dec. 26. Lord Keyes’s lungs were affected by fumes from a smokescreen laid by Admiral Connolly’s flagship during a divebombing attack at the Leyte landing, in the Philippines, in October,, 1944. Lord Keyes, who was on the bridge of the American ship, and nearly 40 others on the upper deck, were made nearly unconscious, and had to be given oxygen. Lord Keyes’s health remained impaired. After a rest in Australia he recovered sufficiently to fly to England, but the flight still further affected his heart.
