POWER PROJECT FOR ENGLISH INDUSTRY.—The Kearsley power station in Lancashire is being enlarged and extended, the work being pushed forward at top speed. When the three-year development programme is complete the station will have a capacity of 360,000 horse-power, and. will provide a great reservoir of electric power for Midland industries. It is part of a great modernisation drive being planned for post-war Britain. The group of hew cooling towers seen in this picture will be 290 ft high, the largest in the world.
