RACECOURSE COMEDY
WITHDRAWN HORSE WINS ODD SEQUENCE OF EVENTS (Rec. 12.30 p.m.) LONDON, Dec. 26. A horse which had been withdrawn from the course and returned to the paddocsk in the middle of a race to-day won the Athens Chase at Windsor. Three started. Sandown, the favourite, fell at the first fence, and Roman Law at the second. Never Mind carried on and gained a lead over two fences. Roman Law was remounted and chased Never Mind, whose jockey gave up and cantered back to the paddock. Meanwhile, Roman Law’s jockey could not persuade the horse to continue and he also gave up, whereupon Never Mind returned to the course and began again. f It fell after two fences, but was remounted and finished alone.
