CARS COLLIDE
D.F.C. PILOT KILLED THREE PERSONS INJURED (P.A.) HASTINGS, December 26. One peflbn was killed and three were injured, one critically, as the lesult of a collision between two cars at a street intersection in Hastings last night. All were Hastings residents. They are: — —Killed.— Thomas Harrison, aged 27, single. —lnjured. * Clifford Chapman, aged 26, single, head injuries, broken jaw, collarbone and leg injuries; condition critical. James Gordon Esam, ager 34, married, cuts and abrasions; discharged from hospital. Yvonne Esam, aged 33, married, shock, broken collarbone; condition not serious.
. Harrison, the holder of the D.F.C., and a fighter pilot, had recently returned to New Zealand. Chapman served with the 2nd N.Z.E.F. Harrison and Chapman were in , a large sedan car and Esam was in a light car. The former turned over three times, and the latter overturned against a power pole.,
