The Lily Stevens Dance Group concluded the year's activities on Saturday with a matinee picture party, followed by a Christmas tea and enjoyable games. W. Davis, Lookout Point, to celebrate the coming of age of their daughter, Rua- Joy. On Saturday . evening last Mr ■ and Mrs G. Blackwood held a house party . to mark the coming of age of their only .daughter, Noeline. Music and dancing were enjoyed, and musical items -were contributed by Misses W. Marlow, N. Blackwood, B.' Gallien, Messrs G. Smith, D. Dalton l W. Bennett, and W. Milnes. During buffet supper, Mr Blackwood presented, in a happy little speech, the traditional ; gold key to Noeline. j Presentation of Debutantes. I The Otago High School ex-Girls' Asv sociation will not hold an annual ball \ in June. Therefore the committee of the Seventy-fifth Anniversary Association has decided to allow the presentation of debutantes (18-21) at the anniversary ball, to be held on Wednesday, February 4, next year. Applications, stating age and number of years at school, should be sent immediately to the secretary, Stella "Bayley, 68 Russell street. PJunket Society. On Saturday last Mrs James Begg, Dominion president of the Plunket Sqciety, and Miss , Johnstone, vice-presi-dent, entertained Miss Fitzgibbons, the recently-retired nursing adviser to the society, at a buffet dinner at Mrs Begg's house in Roslyn. All the members of the Dominion executive of the society were present, as well as one or two past members. Mrs Begg presented Miss Fitzgibbons with a sheaf of roses and a book autographed by the members of the executive, and paid a warm tribute to the splendid work the guest had carried out during all the years she had so ably filled the position of nursing, adviser. After dinner .members of the party attended the pictures. Women's Bowling. On Monday a pleasant afternoon was spent by the St.,Kilda Ladies' Bowling

Club, the president (Mrs W. Jones) entertaining members. Progressive pairs were played, the winners being Mesdames Vaughan and Potter. A delightful afternoon tea was served, the tables being artistically decorated with Iceland poppies and delphiniums. Croquet. The president of the Tainui Croquet Club, Mrs A. G. Rennie, entertained members, their husbands, and friends at a Christmas party in the pavilion on Saturday night last. Oh behalf of the members, Mrs Thomas presented Mrs Rennie with a beautiful shoulder spray of roses. During the evening flag 500 was played, the winners being Miss Black; Mrs Mills, and Mr and Mrs Glue. A dainty supper was enjoyed by all, during which Mrs Rennie called on Mrs McGregor to cut the Christmas cake. Junior Red Cross. The secretaries of the Occupation Centre, Citizens' Day Nursery, and Health Camps, and the matrons of Karitane and Kew Homes have written thanking the Junior Red Cross for their help during the year in the form of parcels of toys, donations and service to their respective institutions. Large quantities of toys and knitted clothing have been distributed and over £l5O has been given to help children in need in different parts of the world. This money has all been raised through the efforts of children in Otago schools. Navy League Notes. Since the beginning of December there have been sent overseas 145 woollen comforts for men, including 15 flannel shirts, 2 large blankets, 2 quilts, 7 homespun cot blankets, and 116 children's garments. An overseas merchant ship has been supplied with woollen comforts, books, and tinned foods. The captain writes that " these gifts will be divided equally on Christmas Day; the woollens and reading will be a boon on our long, cold passage around the Horn, and the tinned food very, very welcome to our folks at home." Included in the comforts which have come in are two generous monetary ones from the Clyde and Tokarahi branches of the W.D.F.U., and some large parcels of gifts of clothing (men's woollens and children's garments) from the Home Economics Association, the North Otago Women's Club, Mrs O'Callaghan's working party, the Kelso Branch of the W.D.F.TJ., and Miss Powley. Ex-Commodore Sir Atwell Lake (now in England), in a letter just received by Mrs Ross, says: "' Next time you meet the charming ladies who devote so much time to knitting and spinning, give them my love. I have many happy memories of my time in your country and those days (in Dunedin) are among the happiest." The parcels for the families of 100 British ratings serving in the R.N.Z. Navy have been despatched; each parcel contains beef dripping, cheese, Atora suet and jelly crystals. The gift of a spinning wheel has been gratefully received.
