ACCIDENTS AND DEATHS
WOMAN KILLED IN CAR SKID. A young womau died in the Auckland Hospital yesterday from injuries , she received when a car in which, she was a passenger skidded and collided with a power pole outside the Dilworth School, Great South road, early in the morning. She was 'Mrs Margaret Ngaire Wakefield, aged 26, of St. Stephen’s Avenue, Parnell. It is not! ' known what caused the vehicle to skid, but in the collision Mrs. Wakefield received severe head injuries, and lacera* tions DEATH ON MARRIAGE EVE, A man who was to. have been’mai'ried yesterday met his death at Taumarunui early on Wednesday morning/ He was Ronald Henry Murcott, aged 21, a mil! hand. Mr Murcott was pumping a petrol lamp in the kitchen of his parents’ home at National Park when the lamp exploded. Flames caught his clothing and he ran outside. Mr John 'Walker, a neighbour,. who saw the flare, went to bis assistance, rolling him twice in the grass and removing his burning clothes. Mr Murcott received ■ first aid and was taken to the Taiimarunui Hospital, where he died.
