STATE AIR LINE
AUSTRALIAN PLANS TO GO AHEAD (Rec. 11.15 a.m.) CANBERRA, Dec. 21. The Federal Government intends to go ahead with its plan to establish a Commonwealth inter-State air line. This decision has been made in spite of the High Court judgment that parts of the Air Lines Act are invalid.
The Government spokesman said: “ We shall establish our own air line, though the date of its inauguration has not yet been fixed.” It is believed that the Government will use control of air mail subsidies and ownership of aerodromes and navigational facilities to ensure that the Government air line is able to compete on a favourable basis with private services.
