ASSOCIATION EXECUTIVE MEETINC The fortnightly meeting of tin Executive Committee of the Dunedii Returned Services Association wa: held last night. Present were Messrs H. P. Jefcoate (chairman), C. G Hedge, S. P. Cameron, D. Forsyth W. It. Brown, W. It. Cameron, W. E Earnshaiv, A. J. H. Jeavons, M. S Myers, C. It. McLean, N. S. Stewart and.W. It. Porter. CHRISTMAS GIFTS. The suggested allocation of Christmas parcels and gifts to civilian widows and orphans of returned servicemer; was the subject of a recommendation from the Relief Committee to the executive that each of this class ol recipient receive £5. This recommendation was supported by the Christmas Treat Committee, and the two committees .also • suggested that unemployed married returned servicemen (veteran's allowance and age benefit) obtain an order for £2 10s for groceries, and single men under this heading a grocery order for 255. The secretary, reported the committees, had been instructed to approach the Otago Patriotic and General Welfare Association for the usual financial assistance on a 50-50 basis. The extra issue of tobacco would be sent to the returned men at the Seacliff institutioivduring the Christmas period. Regarding the Roxburgh afforestation Kcheme, the expenditure on the plantation currently was £2,153 19s 4d, apart from a Government subsidy of £954. ■ The report was adopted., and it was decided to hold this year's Christmas treat in First Church grounds on December 15 GENERAL. Several months ago, the executive suggested through the Dominion headquarters that some tangible recognition of the part of the people of Crete in co-operating with the New Zealand soldiers during and after the German invasion be considered by the Government. A reply was received and noted by the executive that the Prime Minister considered it desirable to leave the matter in abeyance until the arrival in the Dominion of General Froybei'g. After the next function on the programme it was decided, after consideration of the Social Committee's report, to discontinue the evening " teas." and to resume them at a slightly later hour next autumn.
