ACCIDENTS AND DEATHS
WATERSIDES WORKER KILLED. A waterside worker, Cecil Whitburn, aged 44, a married man residing at Opoho, was killed yesterday when he slipped and fell into a-hold of the overseas vessel Acadia at, the Dunedin wharves An inquest was opened this morning before Mr J. R. Bartholomew, S.M., acting as coroner, and after evidence of identification had. been taken, was adjourned sine die. Sergeant Devlin represented the police. To mark their sympathy in, i the matter of the death of their fellowworker, tho watersiders ceased work yesterday afternoon, resuming this morning. WRIST INJURED. James Mawhinney, aged 59, of the Crown Hotel, was admitted to the Public Hospital at 10.30 a.m. to-day with a cut tendon on his wrist,- the result of an accident at the hotel.
