ROUNDLY BERATED
AMERICAN LABOUR ON RUSSIAN POLICY NEW YORK, October 18. The American Federation of Labour Executive Council declared ifs support for the United States foreign policy and berated Russia “ for its non-co-operative attitude.” The Council asserted that the Russians’ attempts to dominate post-war Europe and Asia were dangerous to world freedom. The council issued a statement that the recent reports by Mr Bevin and Mr Byrnes leave no room for doubt that Russia’s non-co-operative effort was largely responsible for the stalemate at the recent London conference. “If Russia is going to persist in a lonewolf foreign policy nothing will be gained by dodging facts or pretending they do not exist. We cannot continue to placate any nation at the cost of our principles. Failure on our part to adopt a policy in defence of our convictions will only be interpreted as a sign of weakness, and will inevitably result in pressure for further concessions.” '
