COMMUNITY SING

The fifteenth sing of the season was hold in the Strand Theatre yesterday before a very large audience. Several letters have been received by_ the sectary from listencrs-in expressing their thanks and saying how they look forward to Friday's .sing, which is very much enjoyed. They always enclose a good donation. Three old numbers were very popular, ' Bonnie Hanks of Loch Lomond,' ' Home, Sweet Home,' and ' Mother Machree.' A new hymn. ' Land oi Our Birth/ was introduced, and the rendering was excellent. The special attraction was the Drunuiiond Ladies' W.D.F.U. Choir from Winton, conducted by Miss Mary Findlay, and it gave a line performance of two numbers, ' Beautiful Danube ' and ' Break o' Day.' Mr H. P. Desmoulins was the leader, with Mr J. F. Himburg assisting, and Mr Alf. Pettitt at the piano. Proceeds were for the Dmiedin .branch, New Zealand Crippled Children, the collection amounting to £33.
