SIGNING THE SURRENDER DOCUMENTS IN ITALY.—The documents of unconditional surrender of the German forces in Italy and Western Austria being s.gned by the representatives of Obergriippenfuhiei Karl Wolff, supreme commander of S.S. and police and plenipotentiary of the Wehrmacht in Italy Tlie signing took place at the office of Lieutenant-general W, D. Morgan, Chief of Staff at Allied lield Headquarters. The German representatives are seen wearing cmhan clothes as a security measure More than a million men were involved in this surrender. This picture was transmitted to the United States by sound and thence to New Zealand by air mail.
