It is estimated that 22,000,000 people died in this war, says the London correspondent of the ' Herald,' Melbourne. They included soldiers of every nation, Allied and enemy, and on all the battlefields; civilians in Britain, and German civilians in the Allied air onslaught. This has been the worst of all wars for casualties. Eight million soldiers died in the last war, but the civilian casualties were not at all comparable.
