(Rec. 10.30 a.m.)

Milan radio stated that a large crowd collected in the Piazzo Loretto to see the bullet-ridden bodies of 18 Fascists, including Mussolini, Petacci, Scorza, and Pavolini. The radio later announced that Achille Starace, former general secretary of the Fascist Party, was executed in Milan to-day. The execution of Mussolini followed immediately on a broadcast by the Communist Vice-Premier, Palmiro Togliati, who declared that there was no need for a trial of high Fascists beyond establishing their identity—they should pay with their lives. The executions occurred at Como. ,
