NO. 14. STEAM BOILERS
Should the fire die down owing to a longer rest than usual, it is essential that it be shovelled or mechanically fed with the forced draught shut completely off. It should be very gradually opened so as to keep up with the combustion as it proceeds. The colour of the flame is most important.
