LAST DEBUTANTE DANCE The last debutante dance to be sponsored by the. Old Girls' Association of Archerfield, which closed last year, was held in the Crawford Lounge on Thursday night. The president, Miss Beryl Service, received the debutantes and presented them with posies from the association. She then introduced them to Miss L. S. Morton and Mr. and Mrs J. Sutherland Ross, after which they and their partners took part in the debutantes' dance. A cheery fire and an effective decorative schame, in which hydrangeas were the principal flower, made an attractive background for the 60'couples who attended. The debutantes were the Misses Winifred Blatch, who wore a white cloque-frock made with a long tucked bodice arid full skirt; Jessie Clouston, in white sprigged muslin with frills at the square neck line, and on the sleeves; Joan Harford, in a white spotted silk frock featuring a silver lace yoke and .puffed sleeves; Shona Hogan, who wore an ivory velvet frock with a long bodice finished with a.frill and a full skirt; Elaine Jeffery, whose frock had a velvet bodice with flowers at the neck and a full organdie skirt with a tucked hem line; Joan Meggett, in white satin trimmed with tiny satin bows at the neck and on the skirt; Valerie MacDonald, in a _ white! taffeta picture frock with a silk stripe; Maureen McHutchon, in white georgette with tucks on the bodice and at the waistline; Nanette McLauchlan, in a white cloque frock made with low waist and short peplum; Lorraine Pringle, in figured broche with full gathered skirt j Ngaire Potter, in broche satin with a rucked bodice; Mary Shand, in white net with an off-the-shoulder neckline and appliqued satin flowers on the skirt; Doreen Smail, in white cloque with an off-the-shoulder neckline finished with silver tulle flowers.
