ORKNEY AND SHETLAND SOCIETY
The monthly social of the Orkney and Shetland Society was held on Saturday evening, when, in the absence of the president. iMr J. Sabiston occupied the chair Among the guests present were the Mayor 'Mr !")• O. Cameron)-, and Mr C Macßae, the president of the Scottish Society. Mr Sabiston introduced Mr Cameron, who. after referring to the strenuous times through which people were passing, said he thought that social gatherings, were very necessary for keeping the people togethei and "renewing friendships; The remainder of the evening was spent in dancing, interspersed with the following items: —Songs. Mr Collins; recitations.' Miss -Toy Callaghan; dai\ces, waltz clog and Irish jig. Misses Norma Taylor and June Smith. The winners of the movie waltss were Mrs Coard and Mr Slipper. Music was supplied bv Mrs Ruby Shaw. Mr MacMnrray, and Piper Stan Clement. Mr W. Stevenson thanked the performers, and Mr C. O. Borwidk acted as M.C. for the evening
